Highlights and hidden gems

Cycling in Amsterdam

Our city bike tour of Amsterdam takes you off the beaten track to the undiscovered parts of the Dutch capital. Bike with us to the city ‘s secrets and hidden gems and discover parts of Amsterdam that remain unknown for others. Learn about Amsterdam ‘s history and cycle past important landmarks. This city bike tour is more than a sightseeing tour on wheels. It’s the way to get to know the real Amsterdam.

City Bike Tour ‘s Itinerary

The city bike tour starts from our office at Spuistraat 30. This is centrally located and close to Amsterdam Central Station. We ride our bikes through the historic city center of Amsterdam and cycle alongside the canals and across the city ‘s bridges.

Amsterdam in the 17th century…

Bike Tour Amsterdam

On one of the first stops, we visit the head office of the Dutch West-Indian Company and learn about the economy and history of 17th century Amsterdam. While getting an understanding about what was known as Amsterdam ‘s Golden Age, we are headed to the Jordaan, one of the city ‘s most picturesque quarters. We ride our bikes through the quiet backstreets of this former working class area and discover the many hidden gems and secret courtyards of the neighborhood.

Coffee break…

After about 90 minutes of cycling and learning it ‘s time for a short pit stop. A great opportunity to enjoy a local café for a short coffee (or beer! 🙂 ) break halfway through the tour. A moment to relax, use facilities and get to know your guide and fellow travelers.

A ride in the park…

City Bike Tour

The second part of the tour consists of more cycling and some important monuments. An absolute highlight of the city bike tour is a visit to the Vondelpark. This enormous oasis is Amsterdam ‘s largest park and a hot spot among locals. A bike ride through the Vondelpark is a must do when in Amsterdam!

The sights get bigger towards the end of the tour. Our final stop will be at the overwhelming Museum Square, surrounded by monuments and museums. We talk about the rich art collections to find at the center of art and culture in the Netherlands. From Vincent van Gogh to Rembrandt and Vermeer. From the Royal Concert Hall and the Moco Museum to our national museum. Via the world ‘s most beautiful bike lane under the arch of the Rijksmuseum we bike back alongside the canals to where we started the tour.

Small Groups

City Bike Tour

We find it important to keep our groups small. We offer personal and high quality bike tours and are proud be Amsterdam ‘s bike tour company with the smallest groups!

If you sign up for our city bike tour, we ensure you a group that has no more then 11 participants (probably less!). This gives you the chance to actually get to know us and to ask us all your questions. It gives us the chance to take you into the veins of the city and visit small and undiscovered places.

Bikes were well maintained and in good condition. Sinah the group leader was bright, funny and an excellent tour guide who led the tour around the back streets of Amsterdam with grace and elegance. Previous reports speak about the problem of the so many locals on their bikes may cause. I did not find any problem with this or from cars. Well worth the cost.

A must when travelling to Amsterdam Without a doubt, this tour was one of the highlights of my stay. Thijs and Sumeru were both so helpful and kind, Sumeru (our guide) even brought us to my university campus when he heard I had not visited it yet. It felt so personal and relaxed while also giving such an extensive and comprehensive tour of the city (with a well-earned coffee break in the middle). I knew within 5 minutes of the tour that I would be coming back with my friends/relatives in the future.

A truly delightful bike tour through the canal lined streets of Amsterdam. Thijs was an informative, engaging guide and took us from old historic parts of town, through beautiful parks, past the most visit worthy sights and even added in a stop at a terrific street market. We had a group of 7 that included adults, teenagers and even a 10 year old, all of which said that this was the highlight of their time in Amsterdam. We will definitely book one of their other tours on our next visit and would highly recommend that anyone looking for a great day on bikes in Amsterdam should call We Bike Amsterdam!

“An outstanding tour that took in lots of interesting locations in Amsterdam that would otherwise be difficult to discover alone. My guide was a history graduate who provided excellent commentary. Especially during pandemic times many other tours cancel at the last minute leaving the participant stranded. l most appreciated that this tour proceeded with only one participant (me). Highly recommended.”

We did the hidden gems tour and it was brilliant. Very chilled out but very informative. Our guide was Leon and he was absolutely brilliant. He was so knowledgeable but also absolutely hilarious. Really great guy. Highly recommend this tour and this company. They even provide you an email afterwards with recommendations on restaurants and bars.
